Watering Restrictions in Place from May 1 to October 1, 2017

The City of Enderby Water and Sprinkling Bylaw restricts sprinkling from May 1 to October 1 of every year as part of our community’s effort to manage water demand. This helps to decrease over-watering to reduce waste and also divides irrigation days to help decrease the impacts of peak demand upon the City’s infrastructure. Both of these features help to save taxpayers money in the long run!

Remember, just because it is your day to water, that does not mean that you must water your lawn. Check first and only water if it’s needed.

Residents are reminded that watering restrictions are in effect May 1 through October 1.

Sprinkling is permitted between the hours of 6:00am and 9:00am and 6:00pm and 9:00pm.

Properties with even numbered civic addresses may water on even numbered days. Properties with odd numbered civic addresses may water on odd numbered days.

Properties with automatic sprinkling systems may water between the hours of 12:00am and 6:00am on their assigned watering days provided that sprinkling does not exceed 6 hours in any 24 hour period. Property owners are encouraged to ensure that automatic sprinkling systems are programmed appropriately – there have been a number of cases where irrigation was programmed to run for the entire period and over-watered lawns. Lawns often do not need to be watered for this length of time.

Hand-watering on days other than your assigned watering day is permitted providing a hand-held container or hose with a shutoff device is used.

These restrictions apply to all properties within the City of Enderby or connected to the City of Enderby water system with the exception of nurseries, farms, sports fields or public parks/gardens.

Your cooperation is appreciated.
