Garbage, Recycling, and Composting

Garbage

Garbage is collected curb-side every Tuesday. Garbage is limited to 2 containers and is restricted to residential garbage. Please ensure that your garbage is placed curb-side no earlier than 4:00am on the day of collection, and no later than 7:00am on the day of collection.

If you have a garbage collection service problem, please contact City Hall at 250-838-7230.

Recycling

Recycling is collected every other Monday under a Provincial program, Recycle BC. Your recycling materials will be collected by Emterra Environmental.

Starting December 1, 2020, glass bottles and jars can be recycled at curbside in grey glass boxes in the Regional District of North Okanagan, including the City of Enderby. Residents must set glass out separately from paper and containers.

Download the current Recycling Guide for a calendar, helpful tips, and accepted materials at curb-side and at depots.

If you have a recycling service problem, such as a missed pick-up, please email Emterra or telephone the local Emterra customer service line at 250-545-4245.

Yard and Garden Waste

Did you know that you can drop off your yard and garden waste for free at any RDNO disposal facility? Trimmings, prunings, grass, mulch, leaves, wood chips, wind-fallen fruit, tree stumps under 20cm in diameter are all accepted. Please read the instructions on RDNO’s free yard waste drop-off program for more information.

In addition, the City offers a residential spring pruning curbside pick-up program every spring.

Backyard Composting

Did you know that backyard composting is a cost-effective and efficient way to reduce your household waste, with a home composter being capable of diverting 200-300 kg of organic material from the landfill every year?
