wildfire devastation

Situation Report for August 6, 2021

The City of Enderby is closely monitoring the White Rock Lake wildfire west and southwest of the City. Our sympathy goes out to those who have been affected by wildfires throughout the Province.

The City of Enderby Emergency Operations Centre has increased its activation to Level 1 due to the wildfire threat. Monitoring and advance planning are ongoing.

At this time, there is not an evacuation alert or order for the City of Enderby. The EOC Level 1 activation is a precautionary and preparatory measure.

The City strongly encourages all residents and businesses to follow the personal, household, and pet emergency preparedness tips in the links below.

If you have questions about evacuation alerts and orders, please reference this page.

The City is implementing an additional ban, effective immediately, over and above the Kamloops Fire Centre ban. In addition to the ban on campfires and open burning, propane fireplaces and all cooking in public parks and trails within the City of Enderby and the Shuswap River Fire Protection District is now prohibited.  Within the City, this includes the Riverwalk, Tuey Park, Barnes Park, Belvedere Park, and Riverside Park.  Propane fireplaces are prohibited in all public spaces including campgrounds.  Propane barbeques solely for cooking purposes will be allowed in a campground or designated reception/evacuation area, provided their use is safe and minimal.

Please stay safe, be prepared, keep tuned into media so that you are aware of the situation, support others, and follow instructions related to this emergency.
