Addenda

Approximately how many flower installations are covered by this contract?

There are approximately 100 planters and hanging backets. There are also beds by the Drill Hall, City Hall, Riverwalk (near the middle and at the south end), Belvedere Park and hand-launch area, and Maud Street. Please refer to the schedule in the Gardens and Grounds Maintenance Contract for a complete list of areas for which the contractor is responsible.

Typically, the plant purchase for beds and planters involves approximately 250-300 wave petunias, 100 canna lillies, 80-100 sweet potato vines, and a variety of others based on approved design and nursery availability. Hanging baskets are in addition to the bed and planter volume.

Please remember that the plant purchase is funded directly by the City, over and above the contract value; the above is only intended to describe the quantity of flowers required to be maintained.

Does the City have a map showing the locations covered by this contract?

We do – you can download this Google Earth .kml file. Please note that this marks out specific sites, but does not mark off the locations of each hanging basket and planter. Update: Google Earth .kml file now includes planter locations (October 27, 2022).

Does the City own hanging baskets?

Yes, the City owns and supplies the hanging baskets (and stores over the winter). The contractor is responsible for adding soil and planting, and maintaining.
