City of Enderby Official Community Plan Update

The City of Enderby is taking important steps to shape the future of our community through the update of the Official Community Plan (OCP).

What is an Official Community Plan?

An OCP is a comprehensive, long-term planning document that directs the growth and development of our community. It helps guide staff and Council decision-making on matters such as housing, transportation, economic development, parks and recreation, land use, arts, culture and more. Together with the Zoning Bylaw, the OCP is essential to shaping Enderby and provides a framework for how the community will grow and evolve over time.

Why does the Official Community Plan need to be updated?

Enderby’s current OCP was adopted in 2014 and requires a refresh to align with population growth, changes to provincial housing legislation, and changes to our community’s current and future needs. The OCP Update will clarify and consolidate housing policies, both in response to provincial legislation related to accommodating 20 years of growth and addressing different types of housing noted in the 2024 Interim Housing Needs Report.

The purpose of the OCP update is to:

  • Modernize housing and land use policies with updated population growth projections and provincial housing legislative requirements
  • Refresh land use, growth policies, and development permit area guidelines to align with the community’s vision for the future of Enderby
  • Bring the OCP in line with the community’s evolving needs and the most recent Interim Housing Needs Report (2024), ensuring it reflects changes from the past decade
  • Improve the clarity and usability of the document for staff, Council and the development community

Project Timeline

The OCP Update is being led by City staff with consultant support, and the first draft of the OCP is anticipated to be completed by Fall 2025.

We are now in the early stages of public and stakeholder engagement. Over the next few weeks, there will be multiple opportunities for you to participate and share your input, which is essential to shaping the future of Enderby.
