What better way to wrap up an incredible summer of community events than with a totally rad night of music, dancing and '80s style?

Enderby & District Lions Club, signed on as the title sponsor of 80s Dance Party by the River without hesitation and helped blast Belvidere Park back to the MTV generation. The Lions Club continues to play an invaluable role in supporting our community, and they are looking for new volunteers to join their ranks and help make a difference.

Congratulations to Deryk and Shanyn, winners of the 80s Style Showdown, taking home the grand prize after going up against more than 25 contestants! Every participant looked amazing and many could have stepped straight out of the 1980s.

A huge thank you to the many volunteers who helped bring the event to life, from set design and traffic control to takedown. We also extend our appreciation to Event Coordinator Vallerie Byrne, Enderby & District Recreation Services and Public Works for their tremendous work behind the scenes.

Special thanks to Sunbelt Rentals, who generously volunteered to donate the event lighting simply because they wanted to support this free community celebration.

Community members, project partners, elected officials, recreation leaders and families gathered on Wednesday, September 9 to celebrate the successful first season of the Enderby Outdoor Pool and mark an important milestone in the story of this landmark community investment.

The End-of-Season Celebration, held at the Enderby Outdoor Pool in Barnes Park, brought together many of the people and organizations whose vision, support and contributions helped make the new facility possible.

The celebration had a splash of fun built right into the agenda. While speakers shared stories and reflections, members of the public enjoyed a free swim, with families taking full advantage of the pool, lazy river, waterslide, and other amenities. It was the perfect reflection of a facility built to foster connection, keep families active, and offer an inclusive space where everyone can create lasting memories.

The first season has demonstrated the importance of a new outdoor pool to Enderby, Rural Enderby, and Splatsin, as well as visitors who flocked from the broader region. Families, children, seniors, and swimmers of all abilities spent the summer enjoying the pool's many features, while staff and lifeguards successfully operated a brand-new aquatic facility and welcomed the community with an array of fitness programs, public swims, and swimming lessons.

More than a recreation facility, the new outdoor pool is a cornerstone of community life. It creates opportunities for children to learn life-saving water skills, supports active and healthy lifestyles, provides inclusive recreation opportunities for people of all ages and abilities, and strengthens the community’s position as a vibrant, welcoming family destination.

Replacing the Enderby Lions Pool that faithfully served the community for more than seven decades, the new pool represents a significant investment in the future of the communities it serves.

Designed with accessibility, sustainability and long-term community growth in mind, the facility includes a leisure pool, lap swimming area, lazy river, waterslide, hot tub, spray features, accessible change rooms, family amenities, and barrier-free access throughout.

The project was made possible through years of planning, collaboration and investment involving all levels of government, including the City of Enderby, Regional District of North Okanagan, the Province of British Columbia, and the Government of Canada.

Local community groups contributed generously to specific features at the Enderby Outdoor Pool. The Enderby Legion Branch 98 sponsored the facility's wheelchair ramp, helping ensure veterans, seniors and community members can easily access the pool. The Enderby & District Lions Club funded the spray features, bringing extra colour and fun to the pool area.

Charities and foundations also contributed to making the Enderby Outdoor Pool a welcoming and inclusive space. SPARC BC funded the barrier-free change room lift and water wheelchair, and the RBC Barrier Buster Grants Program, presented by the Rick Hansen Foundation paid for the hot tub lift.

The Enderby Outdoor Pool is expected to attract thousands of visitors annually, generate economic activity for local businesses, support recreation programming, and provide a shared gathering place where residents from Enderby, Rural Enderby, and Splatsin can connect and celebrate.

While the first season comes to a close this week, the Enderby Outdoor Pool is just beginning its role as a long-term community asset. The City and operations team look forward to building on the success of this first summer and welcoming residents and visitors back for many more seasons of making waves.

Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program

The project received joint federal and provincial funding through the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program – Rural and Northern Communities stream. The program supports projects that improve quality of life, public infrastructure and long-term community resilience in rural and northern communities across Canada.

Growing Communities Fund

The Province of British Columbia provided funding through the Growing Communities Fund. The Growing Communities Fund provides a one-time grant to all 188 local governments in British Columbia to support the delivery of infrastructure projects necessary to enable community growth.

Build Communities Strong Fund Community stream

The project also received support through the Community Works Fund of the Build Communities Strong Fund Community stream, delivered in BC by the Union of British Columbia Municipalities. The Community stream is a permanent source of federal infrastructure funding which helps local governments build and maintain infrastructure that supports strong, sustainable communities and improves the quality of life of residents.

Friday Night Lights 2026 was one for the record books.

On Friday, August 21, 2026 downtown Enderby transformed into a high-energy celebration of classic cars, live entertainment, food, family fun and community spirit.

From the moment the first vehicles arrived in the afternoon until the final cars pulled out of Enderby, the downtown core was buzzing.

Record-breaking car registrations.
Record-breaking crowds.
Record-breaking community spirit.

The result was one of the biggest and most successful Friday Night Lights celebrations Enderby has ever seen.

A Record-Breaking Car Show

The response from car enthusiasts was extraordinary, with Friday Night Lights welcoming a record number of registered vehicles.

An incredible collection of more than 250 classic cars, hot rods, vintage trucks and beautifully restored vehicles poured into downtown core.

Cliff Avenue and the surrounding downtown streets became a spectacular outdoor showroom, with vehicles drawing admiration from thousands of visitors throughout the evening.

A Record-Breaking Crowd

And the cars weren't the only record breakers.

Friday Night Lights welcomed a record-breaking crowd.

Families, visitors, car enthusiasts and residents moved from zone to zone, taking in the cars, live music, magic, food trucks, RC action, the dunk tank and everything else the festival had to offer.

The size and energy of the crowd demonstrated just how far Friday Night Lights has grown. What began as a classic car event has evolved into a major community celebration and one of Enderby's signature summer events.

Something Happening Around Every Corner

A major part of the success of Friday Night Lights 2026 was the energy spread throughout the entire downtown core.

Chrome Alley was packed with incredible cars and trucks, the Overdrive Stage had people dancing in the streets to Dixie Fried Hep Katz, and Russell Avenue came alive with the magic, comedy and mind-bending illusions of Ryan Michael Magic.

Add in the Full Throttle Fun Zone, The Pit Stop and plenty of other activities, and there was something happening around every corner.

Community in Action

More than 50 volunteers worked incredibly long, hot shifts to make this event happen. From early event setup and traffic control to parking, car show support, crowd assistance, event operations and the final takedown, these volunteers were there before the crowds arrived and stayed until the work was done.

Traffic control volunteers in particular put in long, demanding shifts, helping to safely move hundreds of vehicles and thousands of people through the downtown core.

They were the people in the heat, on their feet, directing traffic, answering questions, solving problems and jumping in wherever they were needed.

And they absolutely went above and beyond.

Friday Night Lights simply could not happen at this scale without them.

A Community That Gives Big

Another defining feature of Friday Night Lights 2026 was the extraordinary generosity of Enderby's business community.

This event is free to the public, and that is only possible because local businesses and community partners continue to step up in a very big way.

Enderby’s Friday Night Lights returns Friday, August 21, 2026, as rockabilly music and classic cars flood the downtown core. The aroma of mouth-watering food wafting in the air.

Enderby’s signature, one-night-only classic car show and summer festival runs 5pm-8pm on Cliff Avenue, Belvedere Street and Russell Avenue.

CAR SHOW REGISTRATION (3pm-4:30pm)

We close roads and parking lots throughout the downtown core to showcase more than 200 vintage cars and trucks. If you have a beauty that deserves its night on the town, registration is free.

STAGING AREA (Maud St. & Mill Ave.)
All vintage/classic vehicles will cycle through one central staging area in the Maud Street Parking Lot between 3pm and 4:30pm)

Accessing the Staging Area:
1. Turn off George Street/Highway 97A, heading east on Mill Avenue.
2. Turn right into the Maud Street Parking Lot, which serves as the central staging area for Friday Night Lights.
3. Expert car show volunteers will direct you to you parking location and help you park with ease.

Parking is first-come, first-served.

Canada Day 2026 in Enderby was a breathtaking day.

More than 7000 people from across Enderby & District, and around the Okanagan and Shuswap celebrated the many, many offerings in Enderby.

Well-attended from the early morning Lions Pancake Breakfast to the Parade, then Classic Car Show to endless festivities at Riverside Park and free swimming at the Enderby Outdoor Pool to the fireworks night cap.

Community Events are organized by the City of Enderby and Event Coordinator Vallerie Byrne.

The reason these events draw thousands of locals and visitors from across the Shuswap, North Okanagan and beyond is because of the awe-inspiring generosity and support from local businesses.

Sponsorships allow us to elevate these events with professional entertainers, giveaways, live bands, photo booths, dunk tanks, bouncy castles, face painters and so much more. The most important part being that these events are delivered free of charge to the community.

The City of Enderby has been selected as one of just 40 recipients across Canada to receive funding through the RBC Barrier Buster Grants Program, a national initiative led by the Rick Hansen Foundation in partnership with RBC and the RBC Foundation.

The "Enderby's Barrier-Free Facilities" project will receive $40,000 to support immediate accessibility improvements, reducing physical barriers and creating more inclusive public spaces for residents and visitors of all ages and abilities.

The project includes the installation of automatic door openers at the John Pritchard Memorial Sports Complex, improving access to both the arena and curling rink.

These upgrades will make it easier for individuals using mobility devices to participate in recreation and community activities.

At Enderby City Hall, an automatic door opener will be added at the lower entrance, providing seamless access to the building's wheelchair-accessible elevator and ensuring equitable access to municipal services, public meetings, and community engagement opportunities.

The project will also fund a barrier-free hot tub lift at the Enderby Outdoor Pool, scheduled to open in mid-June.

The lift, coupled with an accessible ramp into the pool itself and barrier-free change rooms and washrooms, will allow individuals with mobility challenges to safely access therapeutic and recreational water amenities, supporting health, wellness, and inclusion.

Together, these improvements represent a coordinated approach to accessibility that spans recreation, civic services, and wellness infrastructure.

By enhancing multiple local government facilities, the project will create lasting improvements that increase independence, remove barriers, and ensure public spaces are welcoming and accessible for everyone.

“A strong community is one where everyone can participate and feel welcome,” said Mayor Huck Galbraith.

“Whether someone is visiting City Hall, attending a hockey game, going curling, or enjoying our outdoor pool, they should be able to do so with dignity and independence.”

Allysa Hopkins, Chair of the Enderby & District Services Commission and Director of Area F (Rural Enderby), added, “This is an incredible win for our region. By removing these physical barriers, we are creating more opportunities for residents to stay active, connected, and independent. It’s about ensuring that everyone can fully experience and enjoy all that our community has to offer.”

“We recognize the positive impact accessible infrastructure has on community participation and well-being,” said Sheryl Hay with Enderby & District Recreation Services. “These improvements represent a significant step toward creating a barrier-free community where we can all access facilities and programs. A healthy community is a community that includes everyone.”

The RBC Barrier Buster Grants Program was created to support accessibility improvements in communities across Canada and to commemorate the 40th anniversary of Rick Hansen's Man In Motion World Tour.

The program funds projects that remove physical barriers and advance inclusion in public spaces.

More than 64% of Canadians either have a disability or live with or care for someone who does, highlighting the growing importance of accessible infrastructure in communities of all sizes.

The City of Enderby was one of only seven British Columbia recipients and one of 40 organizations, municipalities, schools, and community groups selected nationwide through a highly competitive application process.

There will be a community event celebrating the completion of these projects in November 2026.

Enderby's new hub to power local volunteering

The City of Enderby is excited to announce the launch of Volunteer Enderby (volunteer.enderby.ca), a volunteer matchmaking website designed to connect local community groups with passionate community members.

Finding the right volunteer opportunity is now simpler than ever.

Whether a community member has a few hours to give back or is looking for a meaningful way to share a passion with like-minded individuals, Volunteer Enderby makes it easy to find a perfect fit and meet new people along the way.

By contributing their time, community members can be part of something bigger while helping to shape the vibrancy of their own community.

Chocolate-y smiles were the theme of the Enderby Easter Celebration on Sunday, April 5, 2026.

More than 300 egg hunters divided and conquered two waves of Easter Egg Hunts at Riverside Park.

The business community was unbelievably generous with their financial support allowing the Easter Egg Hunts to be more robust than ever with more than 11,000 goodies spread across two ball diamonds.

New this year was a Teen Easter Trivia Challenge, where dozens of teens hustled to answer holiday-related questions for their chance to win prizes.

All of the activities were absolutely unbelievable again this year. And, all entirely free!

Thank you to Event Coordinator, Vallerie Byrne for curating this truly spectacular day.

This event would not be possible without the incredible volunteers who make it happen. They are there before the public arrives setting everything up and they are there after everyone departs cleaning up.

The Easter Bunny is hopping into Enderby on Sunday, April 5, 2026!

You will spot him amidst all of the free Easter activities at Riverside Park from 11:30am-1:30pm.

Gather your kiddos and join the City of Enderby for the biggest Easter Egg Hunt, yet.

Easter Egg Hunts

There will be two age categories and two separate times for the Easter Egg Hunts this year. The hunts will happen on the ball diamonds and participants are asked to be mindful of one another.

Please keep your children off the field until the volunteers lead them out along the perimeter.

Our hope is that every child leaves with eggs in their basket and everyone feels like they had a fair chance to collect.
Keep an eye out for River Otter Outdoors' Golden Eggs and special prizes mixed in with thousands of candies and chocolates

There is also a special activity for teenagers on Diamond #4!
