Canada Day 2026 in Enderby was a breathtaking day.

More than 7000 people from across Enderby & District, and around the Okanagan and Shuswap celebrated the many, many offerings in Enderby.

Well-attended from the early morning Lions Pancake Breakfast to the Parade, then Classic Car Show to endless festivities at Riverside Park and free swimming at the Enderby Outdoor Pool to the fireworks night cap.

Record-setting numbers and record-setting activities were only made possible thanks to more than 50 volunteers, 100+ classic car owners and importantly our partners and supporters.

“I moved here with my family in 1966 and there is no doubt in my mind that we accomplished a lot in Enderby.”

Those were Peter Gilowski’s opening remarks, as he accepted his Lifetime Civic Merit Award from City of Enderby Mayor and Council on Friday, June 19.

Mayor Huck Galbraith, flanked by Councillors Tundra Baird, Sarah Yerhoff, Shawn Shishido and David Ramey, proudly recognized Peter Gilowski for “his dedication to community service and the betterment of Enderby.”

Gilowski did a wonderful jig out of his scooter and up to the podium to the delight of the dozens in attendance.

Among his many, many contributions to Enderby, Gilowski has been a member of the Enderby & District Lions Club since 1968.

He says over his 58 years with the organization he has held nearly every executive role and it was he and another Lifetime Civic Merit Award recipient, John Pavelich, who brought the months-long, annual Lions Garage Sale to life.

Therefore, the setting for his award ceremony was perfect. Gilowski accepted his certificate, plaque and artwork outside the Enderby Curling Club, where the Lions Club hosts its Garage Sale.

Throughout the ceremony, the parking lot was abuzz with people coming and going from the Garage Sale as they searched for newfound treasures.

“I am so proud of Enderby [for] supporting the Lions Club,” Gilowski said. “Truly, truly without the Lions Club this town wouldn’t be where it is now.”

The Garage Sale injects hundreds of thousands of dollars into Enderby & District projects, not-for-profits and community events. Gilowski expressed great pleasure in the donation the Lions contributed to the new Enderby Outdoor Pool with funds collected at the Garage Sale.

From the podium, he went on to share, “I was very proud to get the high school to Enderby, I worked hard,” Gilowski beamed. “I worked hard for the seniors complex, which is a very successful building and the seniors love it. And I was always in business. I have many, many businesses.”

Enderby is fortunate for his combination of business acumen and love of community. Gilowski played a substantial role in the construction of the beloved Lions Gazebo at Riverside Park, and as the owner of Ready-Mix Ltd. he donated concrete to the project.

He is most proud of bringing A.L. Fortune Secondary to Enderby. Gilowski shared that he personally called the Ministry of Education and requested a meeting about getting a high school in Enderby.

He explained that the Ministry said they would build a school here, “but that there was no land in Enderby.” On the spot, he offered to sell his own land at cost and “just like that, we were getting a high school in Enderby.”

While we had hoped to host a soft open of the new Enderby Outdoor Pool in Barnes Park on Friday, June 12, it has been delayed as the last bit of essential work is completed on the pool and building.

Once we have our final approvals and inspections, we will be able to announce our soft opening date. We hope to make that announcement very soon.

We are so excited to welcome you to make a splash in the new Enderby Outdoor Pool in the near future.

On Friday, July 10, 2026 we're asking you to dress up and get your boots to the dance floor at Belvidere Park (702 Railway St.) for a night of country music.

Returning to the stage is Okanagan, husband-wife, country duo, Room to Dance. Andy Plett and JC Plett are back by popular demand and will perform country dance songs to keep this community two-stepping, twirling and dipping from 6:30pm until 9pm.

Canadian 4x4 Auto Repair Centre and Enderby Legion Branch 98 have signed on as co-title sponsors to deliver this outdoor country dance party FREE-of-charge.

In addition to great tunes, come for the delicious eats and cold beverages to stay fueled up for the dance floor:

The City of Enderby has been selected as one of just 40 recipients across Canada to receive funding through the RBC Barrier Buster Grants Program, a national initiative led by the Rick Hansen Foundation in partnership with RBC and the RBC Foundation.

The "Enderby's Barrier-Free Facilities" project will receive $40,000 to support immediate accessibility improvements, reducing physical barriers and creating more inclusive public spaces for residents and visitors of all ages and abilities.

The project includes the installation of automatic door openers at the John Pritchard Memorial Sports Complex, improving access to both the arena and curling rink.

These upgrades will make it easier for individuals using mobility devices to participate in recreation and community activities.

At Enderby City Hall, an automatic door opener will be added at the lower entrance, providing seamless access to the building's wheelchair-accessible elevator and ensuring equitable access to municipal services, public meetings, and community engagement opportunities.

The project will also fund a barrier-free hot tub lift at the Enderby Outdoor Pool, scheduled to open in mid-June.

The lift, coupled with an accessible ramp into the pool itself and barrier-free change rooms and washrooms, will allow individuals with mobility challenges to safely access therapeutic and recreational water amenities, supporting health, wellness, and inclusion.

Together, these improvements represent a coordinated approach to accessibility that spans recreation, civic services, and wellness infrastructure.

By enhancing multiple local government facilities, the project will create lasting improvements that increase independence, remove barriers, and ensure public spaces are welcoming and accessible for everyone.

“A strong community is one where everyone can participate and feel welcome,” said Mayor Huck Galbraith.

“Whether someone is visiting City Hall, attending a hockey game, going curling, or enjoying our outdoor pool, they should be able to do so with dignity and independence.”

Allysa Hopkins, Chair of the Enderby & District Services Commission and Director of Area F (Rural Enderby), added, “This is an incredible win for our region. By removing these physical barriers, we are creating more opportunities for residents to stay active, connected, and independent. It’s about ensuring that everyone can fully experience and enjoy all that our community has to offer.”

“We recognize the positive impact accessible infrastructure has on community participation and well-being,” said Sheryl Hay with Enderby & District Recreation Services. “These improvements represent a significant step toward creating a barrier-free community where we can all access facilities and programs. A healthy community is a community that includes everyone.”

The RBC Barrier Buster Grants Program was created to support accessibility improvements in communities across Canada and to commemorate the 40th anniversary of Rick Hansen's Man In Motion World Tour.

The program funds projects that remove physical barriers and advance inclusion in public spaces.

More than 64% of Canadians either have a disability or live with or care for someone who does, highlighting the growing importance of accessible infrastructure in communities of all sizes.

The City of Enderby was one of only seven British Columbia recipients and one of 40 organizations, municipalities, schools, and community groups selected nationwide through a highly competitive application process.

There will be a community event celebrating the completion of these projects in November 2026.

Enderby's new hub to power local volunteering

The City of Enderby is excited to announce the launch of Volunteer Enderby (volunteer.enderby.ca), a volunteer matchmaking website designed to connect local community groups with passionate community members.

Finding the right volunteer opportunity is now simpler than ever.

Whether a community member has a few hours to give back or is looking for a meaningful way to share a passion with like-minded individuals, Volunteer Enderby makes it easy to find a perfect fit and meet new people along the way.

Chocolate-y smiles were the theme of the Enderby Easter Celebration on Sunday, April 5, 2026.

More than 300 egg hunters divided and conquered two waves of Easter Egg Hunts at Riverside Park.

The business community was unbelievably generous with their financial support allowing the Easter Egg Hunts to be more robust than ever with more than 11,000 goodies spread across two ball diamonds.

New this year was a Teen Easter Trivia Challenge, where dozens of teens hustled to answer holiday-related questions for their chance to win prizes.

All of the activities were absolutely unbelievable again this year. And, all entirely free!

Thank you to Event Coordinator, Vallerie Byrne for curating this truly spectacular day.

This event would not be possible without the incredible volunteers who make it happen. They are there before the public arrives setting everything up and they are there after everyone departs cleaning up.

Enderby is putting community pride into action.

The City is calling on residents of all ages to join the 14th Annual Our Enderby Clean-Up Challenge and help keep our parks, streets, and public spaces beautiful.

The event takes place Saturday, April 18, from 10 am to 12 pm. Volunteers will gather at the City Hall Parking Lot (George St. and Mill Ave.), where the City will provide coffee and snacks.

“This event captures the heart of what makes Enderby special,” said Mayor Huck Galbraith. “It’s not just about picking up litter.  It’s about showing pride in where we live and setting an example for our kids. When we show up for each other and for our shared spaces, we create a deeper sense of community.”

The Clean-Up Challenge is a collaborative effort supported by several local partners. Once the work is finished, volunteers will be provided a free appreciation BBQ, generously provided by the Enderby & District Lions Club.

Additionally, the City’s FireSmart Booth will be on-site to offer expert advice on protecting homes from wildfire risks, along with helpful resources and free swag for residents.

Adding to the day’s activities, the Lions Club will host its Annual Shredding Event by donation from 10 am to 2 pm in the Enderby & District Financial parking lot. This provides local businesses and residents a secure way to dispose of sensitive documents while supporting a local cause.

Whether you are a long-time resident, new to the community, or part of a local sports team or other community organization, this is an opportunity to get involved and connect with your neighbours.

Bring your friends and family to the City Hall Parking Lot on April 18 and be part of a meaningful day of service.

The Easter Bunny is hopping into Enderby on Sunday, April 5, 2026!

You will spot him amidst all of the free Easter activities at Riverside Park from 11:30am-1:30pm.

Gather your kiddos and join the City of Enderby for the biggest Easter Egg Hunt, yet.

Easter Egg Hunts

There will be two age categories and two separate times for the Easter Egg Hunts this year. The hunts will happen on the ball diamonds and participants are asked to be mindful of one another.

Please keep your children off the field until the volunteers lead them out along the perimeter.

Our hope is that every child leaves with eggs in their basket and everyone feels like they had a fair chance to collect.
Keep an eye out for River Otter Outdoors' Golden Eggs and special prizes mixed in with thousands of candies and chocolates

🚣Floaters, Paddle Boarders & Kayakers! The Shuswap River is one of the most spectacular natural gems in Canada. You can access the Shuswap River right from Riverside RV Park. https://www.shuswapriverambassadors.com/

🚴‍♀️Cyclists! The Shuswap North Okanagan Rail Trail is under construction and when completed will be 50km, connecting Armstrong to Sicamous. Enderby is a dynamite spot to travel north or south on the trail, as it passes right through downtown, with trail access just blocks away from Riverside RV Park.

⚾️ Slo-pitch, Baseball and Fastball players! Enderby hosts multiple, highly regarded tournaments, including the renowned Funtastic Slo-Pitch Tournament. Whether you are playing or your kids have a ball tournament, Riverside RV Park is located right next to Enderby’s world-class ball diamonds. Travel time to your game will be approximately one minute or 30 steps away. Can’t beat it. 

🥾Hikers! One of the most stunning, panoramic views awaits. Just across the river from Riverside RV Park, you will find Tplaqín/Enderby Cliffs Provincial Park. You have to work for it, but trust us, you won’t regret the 5.5-6 hour round trip. Standing at the edge of Enderby’s iconic Cliffs will absolutely blow your mind.

🚶‍♂️Walkers & Talkers! Enderby’s paved Jim Watt Heritage River Walk is a stunning way to get from Riverside RV Park to downtown Enderby. You can take in the river, as you seek out a coffee from a local shop, visit the popular Enderby Farmers Market (every Friday morning) and check out the robust art scene!

🏊‍♀️Swimmers! Enderby’s BRAND-NEW outdoor pool is scheduled to open Summer 2026 in Barnes Park! It is a stunning design that includes a play area for tots, a lazy river, swim lanes and a hot tub! After you’re done at the pool, the kids can run around at the spray park and playground.

🤹Event goers! Enderby has a pretty remarkable reputation for its events! Consider aligning your camping reservation with one or all our annual events – many just steps away from Riverside RV Park:

❄️Winter Camping! Riverside RV Park is open year-round and invites long-term winter campers to skirt in and enjoy the mild Okanagan winters from October 1 to April 30 with reduced, flat rates and full-service hook-ups (utilities included).

Just 11 minutes to Hunters Range Snowmobile Trails, 45 minutes to SilverStar Mountain Resort and 1.5 hours to Revelstoke Mountain Resort – Riverside RV Park is an ideal location for winter sports enthusiasts and for Snowbirds looking to stay on this side of the border.

With the new outdoor pool under construction and changing the layout of Barnes Park, our community has an exciting opportunity to shape the future of the park.

The Enderby & District Services Commission is seeking your input on these big picture questions, to help plan the design of Barnes Park over the next five, 10 and even 20 years:

• Do we need replaced, different, or enhanced amenities to meet current and future needs at Barnes Park?
• What should we do with the space where the existing Lions Outdoor Pool is located, once it is decommissioned?

Your feedback will be considered by elected officials alongside park design best practices, financial feasibility, and existing policies, as we move to the next step of developing a concept plan to guide the future development of Barnes Park.

Paper copies of the survey are also available at City Hall, the Visitor Centre and the Enderby Library.

Please submit paper copies to Enderby City Hall by 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 14, 2026.

Have your art make an impact in your community!

Would you like to see your artwork featured on the front desks of businesses and on the refrigerators of locals?

The City of Enderby is looking for interested artists to submit two seasonal designs for Mayor and Council’s Community Recognition Cards. This artwork will be featured on the front of 5"x7" cards and used to welcome new businesses and recognize citizens for their community service.

The submissions should include appropriate content that reflects and compliments the character of Enderby, BC and the natural beauty of the surroundings. The submissions should be no larger than 8"x10" and no smaller than 5"x7".

The City is seeking two seasonal designs: one featuring Spring/Summer themes and another capturing the beauty of Winter in Enderby.

Preference will be given to local artists. A single artist may make more than one submission to each seasonal category. Each winning submission will receive a one-time payment of $200 for purchase of their design(s). If one artist has two winning submissions, they will be paid $200 per design.

The winning submissions will be for the exclusive use of the City for an unlimited term. The City may use the artwork for other purposes related to its functions and communications.

Closing Date:

Submissions will be accepted until 2 p.m. PST on Friday, January 16, 2026.

All submissions must include the following:
i. Artist Release Form; and
ii. Artwork that is no larger than 8"x10" and no smaller than 5"x7".
