Stage 1 of The City of Enderby's Water Conservation and Drought Response Framework restricts water use from May 1st to October 1st of every year. This helps to decrease over-watering, water waste, and the related impact upon public infrastructure.

Remember, just because it is your day to water, that does not mean that you must water your lawn. Check first and only water if it's needed.

Sprinkling is permitted for a maximum of 2 hours per day between the hours of 6:00am and 9:00am and 6:00pm and 9:00pm.

Properties with even numbered civic addresses may water on even numbered days. Properties with odd numbered civic addresses may water on odd numbered days.

Properties with automatic sprinkling systems may water between the hours of 12:00am and 6:00am on their assigned watering days.

Hand-watering on days other than your assigned watering day is permitted providing you use a hand-held container or hose with a shutoff device.

Enderby is putting community pride into action.

The City is calling on residents of all ages to join the 14th Annual Our Enderby Clean-Up Challenge and help keep our parks, streets, and public spaces beautiful.

The event takes place Saturday, April 18, from 10 am to 12 pm. Volunteers will gather at the City Hall Parking Lot (George St. and Mill Ave.), where the City will provide coffee and snacks.

“This event captures the heart of what makes Enderby special,” said Mayor Huck Galbraith. “It’s not just about picking up litter.  It’s about showing pride in where we live and setting an example for our kids. When we show up for each other and for our shared spaces, we create a deeper sense of community.”

The Clean-Up Challenge is a collaborative effort supported by several local partners. Once the work is finished, volunteers will be provided a free appreciation BBQ, generously provided by the Enderby & District Lions Club.

Additionally, the City’s FireSmart Booth will be on-site to offer expert advice on protecting homes from wildfire risks, along with helpful resources and free swag for residents.

Adding to the day’s activities, the Lions Club will host its Annual Shredding Event by donation from 10 am to 2 pm in the Enderby & District Financial parking lot. This provides local businesses and residents a secure way to dispose of sensitive documents while supporting a local cause.

Whether you are a long-time resident, new to the community, or part of a local sports team or other community organization, this is an opportunity to get involved and connect with your neighbours.

Bring your friends and family to the City Hall Parking Lot on April 18 and be part of a meaningful day of service.

The City of Enderby is challenging its residents to join in the 12th Annual Our Enderby Clean-Up Challenge. Enderby residents can show their civic pride by helping to clean-up and beautify areas throughout the community. Participants are encouraged to gather at 10:00 am on Saturday April 26, 2025 in the City Hall parking lot. The Clean-Up Challenge will take place from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm.

The Clean-Up event will be followed by an Appreciation Barbeque at 12:00 pm in the Enderby & District Financial parking lot, hosted by the Enderby & District Lions Club. Participants will be provided with food and refreshments to celebrate their community contribution.  The Lions Club will also be hosting a paper shredding event from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm in the Enderby & District Financial parking lot, which is open to both businesses and individuals, by donation.

“Year after year we are amazed at the number of volunteers who attend the Clean-Up Challenge and donate their time to beautify our community.  This event is a great opportunity to come together, put in some work towards cleaning our environment, and then celebrate with a hotdog and drink at the Appreciation Barbecue,” explains Mayor Huck Galbraith.

Now is the perfect time to Take Action on Radon!

The City of Enderby is inviting all residents, including Area F (rural Enderby) residents, to participate in the 100 Radon Test Kit Challenge. This program provides free radon test kits to residents.

Free test kits will be available for pick-up at Enderby City Hall at 619 Cliff Avenue from November 3 to November 10, 2023.

Did you know that the City of Enderby is located in a wildlife interface area?  In these areas, wildlife is at risk of being habituated to unnatural food sources such as residential garbage and fruit from fruit trees, which often leads to the wildlife losing their fear of humans and becoming dangerous, at which point they must be euthanized.

To help prevent this, the City of Enderby has adopted Wildlife Attractant Bylaw No. 1754, 2022 which requires property owners to properly manage wildlife attractants on their properties.  Pursuant to the City’s Wildlife Attractant Bylaw, here are 10 things you can do to help us to co-exist and prevent conflict with wildlife who inhabit the area:

1. Store your garbage indoors or otherwise in durable, rigid receptacles that are fitted with covers that are inaccessible to wildlife.
2. Do not place your garbage at curbside earlier than 4:00 am on the day of collection.
3. Do not feed or attempt to feed wildlife such as deer or bear.
4. Keep the exterior of your property clear of any food products or food containers, and ensure your compost is kept and maintained in an enclosed and secure rigid container that is inaccessible to wildlife.
5. Ensure that any refrigerators or freezers that are stored outdoors are inaccessible to wildlife.
6. If your pet food is stored outdoors, ensure it is kept in a secure, wildlife-resistant container.
7. Clean barbecue after use – don’t forget the grease trap!
8. Remove any fruit from your fruit trees that has fallen to the ground.
9. Keep birdfeeders suspended in a manner that is inaccessible to wildlife, and keep the ground under birdfeeders clear of seeds.
10. Ensure your domestic animals, backyard hens and backyard bees are reasonably inaccessible to wildlife.

The keeping of backyard hens and bees is permitted on single-family properties. Although the keeping of backyard hens and bees provides a range of benefits, bylaws are in place to ensure that neighbourhood nuisances do not arise and the animals have healthy living conditions.

Backyard Hens

The keeping of up to five (5) backyard hens is permitted in the Residential Single Family (R.1/R.1-A) and Residential Two Family (R.2) zones provided there is a single-family dwelling on the lot. The keeping of roosters is not permitted and eggs produced by backyard hens are for personal use only (no commercial sales).

The owner of backyard hens must provide a coop with an attached outdoor enclosure, which meets specified criteria, and the backyard hens must be housed completely within the coop or attached outdoor enclosure at all times. The coop and outdoor enclosure must be located entirely to the rear of the single-family dwelling and must be fully enclosed by fencing that is at least 1.8 m (5.9 feet) in height.

In order to keep backyard hens, the flock must be licensed with the City of Enderby. Once you have submitted your license application, a City representative will arrange to inspect the property and work with you to ensure that the bylaw requirements have been satisfied.
