Mayor Cyr Discusses Summertime Action in Enderby

Well, I thought it might be a good time to send a message to everyone and update them on a few things:

June brought another opportunity to attend the A.L. Fortune Grad and address the Class of 2014. It’s always a pleasure to share with them and their families the joy of their success.

The mule deer has arrived and while not everyone may embrace the idea of displaying it, it really is a wonderful work of art and it garners a ton of attention. It’s that attention we hope will cause people to stop, take a few photos, and perhaps walk around our little City!

I have heard a number of comments about the vacant rail property, some voicing hope that it would be a hiking/biking trail, others worried about potential chaos from motorized ATV’s and motorcycles on it. I simply want to assure everyone that we are working hard to ensure our community derives the best possible outcomes from the land. We will be keeping you all informed, as things progress.

I really have wanted to acquire outdoor fitness equipment for an outdoor park at Barnes Park. This is coming closer to a reality, as it appears we will be able to access some grant funding to purchase and install equipment at a strategic location in the Park. This will allow citizens of all ages to spend some time, improving or maintaining their fitness.

Lastly, the date is coming ever closer to when our community will welcome SOAR 2014! We have worked very hard to be chosen as the site, and commencing July 15 staff will be arriving to set up shop. Some 2,000 Guides from BC and the rest of Canada, the US, New Zealand, Australia, the UK, Japan and Grenada will gather for their Spirit of Adventure Rendezvous and you will see them throughout our community for several days. I know you will all provide a hearty welcome, as only our citizens can do.

Well, I guess that’s about it for now, more to come next month. In the meantime, have a safe and fun-filled summer!

Howie
