Campfire Ban

Enderby Campfire Ban in Effect as of July 3, 2015

The City of Enderby has announced that it is implementing a campfire ban effective noon on Friday, July 3, 2015. The ban applies to the City of Enderby and the Shuswap Fire Protection District and is consistent with the Kamloops Fire Centre’s requirements. The fire danger rating is currently “high” throughout the Kamloops Fire Centre.

Enderby and District Volunteer Fire Department Chief Kevin Alstad said, “The area is extremely dry and there is a high risk of forest fires. This step is being taken to help prevent human-caused wildfires and to protect public safety.”

In addition to campfires, this prohibition applies to open fires of any size, industrial burning, fireworks, tiki torches, sky lanterns and burning barrels. This prohibition does not apply to cooking stoves that use gas, propane or briquettes, or to a portable campfire apparatus with a CSA or ULC rating that uses briquettes, liquid fuel or gaseous fuel, so long as the height of the flame is less than 15 centimetres.

Unless advised otherwise, this campfire ban is in effect until the Kamloops Fire Centre rescinds its notice.
